Mutation Tiers

Mutations are the quiet pay raise in Jump for Animals. The official Roblox description lists four: Gold (×2), Diamond (×3), Ruby (×5), and Emerald (×10). They apply to the animal’s cash, which means a mutated “bad” rarity can out-earn a plain “good” one. This page is the multiplier ladder and the replace rules so you stop deleting shiny Commons.

The official four

MutationCash multiplierVisual cue (typical)Keep priority
Emerald×10Green shineNever replace except with a better Emerald
Ruby×5Red/pink shineKeep over plain Legendaries
Diamond×3Blue/white shineKeep over plain Epics
Gold×2Yellow shineKeep over plain Rares
None×1Base coloursFiller until something mutated lands

If a patch adds a fifth mutation, it will show in the Index tooltip. Do not assume Rainbow or Rainbow×20 exists because other simulators have it.

How mutations interact with the rarity list

Read this beside the animal tier list. Rarity is the base number. Mutation is the multiplier. A Gold Common (C band ×2) can beat a plain Rare. A Ruby Epic can beat a plain Legendary. An Emerald Basic is a joke until you look at the cash tick — then it is a slot you defend.

Replace rule of thumb:

  • Same species: keep the higher mutation, Index the rest.
  • Different species: multiply in your head. If you cannot, keep the mutant and park the new rarity in a worse slot until you are sure.
  • Empty slot: anything mutated goes down immediately. Held mutants do not pay.

How to find mutants

World spawns can roll a mutation on pickup. Lucky Blocks can too, especially in the Legendary–Beyond shop. There is no separate “mutation machine” advertised in the official text, so do not waste time looking for a crafter that does not exist yet. If a later update adds one, this page will change.

Treadmills do not create mutants. They only raise JumpPower so you see more spawns per minute, which is more lottery tickets. Friends do not share mutants, but ×2 cash lets you buy more Lucky Blocks if you are hunting a colour.

Rebirth and mutants

Before you rebirth, look at the confirm modal. If plot animals stay, your Emerald captain stays. If they wipe, you are about to throw away the best multiplier on the account besides rebirth itself. In that case, delay the reset until you know, or until a patch adds a vault.

Codes that grant luck potions should overlap a spawn hunt, not a belt AFK. A ×2 luck potion on a treadmill that does not roll pets is a wasted window. Check the codes hub for the actual gift text.

Practical plot layout

Put Emerald and Ruby on the most visible slots so you do not accidentally overwrite them on mobile. Put Gold in the second row. Put plains in the back until the Index needs them. This is not fashion. It is fat-finger insurance.

Mutations are why the getting started advice says “slot everything”. You cannot see ×10 until the pet is in your hands, and you cannot keep ×10 if you never had a tile free.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common Jump for Animals questions.

What mutations exist in Jump for Animals?

Gold ×2, Diamond ×3, Ruby ×5, and Emerald ×10, per the official description.

Is Emerald always better than Beyond?

Emerald multiplies whatever species it sits on. An Emerald Beyond is the dream. An Emerald Common can still beat a plain Rare.

Can I craft mutations?

No crafter is advertised. You find them on spawns and Lucky Blocks.

Do mutations reset on rebirth?

Only if the pet itself is deleted. Read the rebirth prompt.
